So, there we were just before
sunset, still searching and looking for the elusive birds. Then
suddenly we hear an audible noise, unlike anything we've heard all
day. We stood there quietly, anxious, motionless, with our eyes
and ears open almost to the extent of painful agony. The
anticipation of a bird sighting became a tease that we, the hungry
for a sighting, have experienced throughout the day. Could this be
it we thought, eyes watering, ears bleeding... Then we hear it...
"Over there, over there!" a voice shouts. And there they
were, hundreds of beautiful birds franticly trying to escape the
voice of one loud watcher (pic below). The next 30 seconds was
true blissful joy until the last scared bird flew into the sunset.
For those of us that made it through the entire day, our journey
suddenly felt fulfilled, our quest for the Holy Quail was
complete. As the sun set, the darkness rose, and for that we were grateful.
Then we went for ice cream.
Special thanks to
Scott for organizing the route and trashing my Mini and lungs.
Thanks also to the MG Car Club Florida for inviting us to dinner
and a cruise. Thanks to Scott, Kurt, and MG Car Club Florida for
the pictures. And of course thanks to those that came out and made
it a great day!
