The Mini 51 - Day 2

Good morning campers!

With the overnight temperatures in the 40's, the heat was coming off the water as the crisp sound of the train shrieked out of the woods and echoed across the river. The poor souls that woke up in warm beds to fresh hot coffee at the hotel missed the beautiful site and historical sounds.

The day started out with the highly anticipated drivers meeting at the hotel. Chuck was once again the Cruise Master for the day. He put together an even better cruise with some really nice stops! Another police escort out of Erwin and we were off... The weather was now Mini perfection, cool (cold for some) and partly cloudy, becoming clear and blue.

Priceless... (note the sign)

Our first stop was a group photo.  We then drove to lunch in Mountain City, NC. where we then had a police escort out of town towards the "Snake." (The police in Erwin and Mountain city were great!)

Here's a picture of the "Snake." By the time you reach for your camera, the Mini in front of you is long gone. There's some great video of the "Snake" but few still photos with Minis in them... If you go there, BE READY! You'll be cruising towards the "Snake" along a beautiful curvy road feeling the rhythm, then suddenly you'll go around a corner that DOESN'T END and your hands will get tangled up on your little 10" steering wheel while trying to brake but you can't or your Mini will over-steer/slide into the oncoming lane so you give it a little throttle to regain your steering but then the turbo kicks in and it launches you forward but there's a Mini in front of you with the same problem, minus the turbo... Guess how I know this...
The masses can have the "Dragon;" I'll take the "Snake" any day, every day.
Thanks Chuck!!!
